Quick Outdoor Portrait Tip

When shooting portraits and you want to keep the focus on your subject (not the background), you’ll want to create a very shallow depth of field.  This is actually quite easy to do.  Here’s how:  switch your camera to aperture priority, and select the lowest or next to lowest f stop number.  This will allow your camera to select the proper shutter speed, and will give you a beautiful portrait with a nice out-of-focus background (and in some cases, foreground).  Take a look at my examples below, and for more photography business tips and coaching, I’ll see you over at www.shuttermomuniversity.com.  For more instruction on how to improve your natural light portrait photography, visit www.naturallightproject.com.
